Meet Your Chef, Peter Hadley

Chef Peter Hadley adding finishing touches
Peter Hadley

Chef Peter Hadley has been in the food business ever since he can remember. As a child he baked with his mother any chance he could get and was a blue ribbon winner for his pies in the local county fair.

In college, Peter opened his first bakery, “Sweet Forgiveness”, which sold pastries to cafes and restaurants in the greater Amherst and Northampton area. During this time he also started dabbling in catering.

When he left the Western Mass area, he went to work as the pastry chef for a well established restaurant in the Back Bay area of Boston. He did side work for several catering companies and soon became the pastry chef for one of Boston’s most prominent caterers at the time.

Peter left Boston to open a restaurant in Provincetown in the late 80s and established himself there as a skilled and “eclectic” chef and pastry chef. After leaving the restaurant, he worked as the pastry chef for the Lobster Pot and opened a vegan/vegetarian restaurant with the Lobster Pot owner before returning to Boston to purchase a catering company that he had formally worked for.

After several years in Boston, and having great success with the catering company, his longing to be back on the Cape took over. He moved to the Cape while still running the Boston company, with hopes of branching out full time on the Cape.

Peter's dream came true, and within just a few years he established himself as one of the top caterers on the Cape, catering and managing five to seven weddings a weekend, as well as other events, and managing over 120 staff. As this was going on, his partner managed and ran their home, an organic farm whose produce, eggs and goat cheese served the catering company, Sumptuous Food, and his cafe, “Here, Eat This” out of Orleans, MA.

Peter’s talents have been featured in many articles in food magazines and newspapers, as well as being featured in a book for his attributes to the catering scene in Provincetown, Mass. He has had recipes featured in Bon Appetit, Gourmet Magazine, The New York Times, The Boston Globe and some others. He has had the pleasure of working alongside many well known chefs as well as catering events for Martha Stewart, and was the personal chef to Nicholas Negroponte and for the “National Endowment For The Arts” when they would congregate in Boston at the Media Lab.

After selling the catering company on the Cape, he and his partner moved to the Western MA. area, where he continued on with some clients from the Cape and has “quietly” catered locally.

Thinking that he would never get back involved full time in the food industry again, after a short stint in retail, he realized his true passion... and in what better of a place. In an area rich with fresh and local foods, Peter’s passion could not be restrained and he opened “BASH” catering in December 2019.

He has worked as a personal chef and travel chef, and is blessed by where, and to whom and with, his talents have taken him.

His passion and creativity is relentless, and his ability to work patiently and in detail with clients, both with getting them what they want and at an affordable price, put him in the place he is in today.

Having catered over 800 Weddings and thousands of events, his attention to detail, his extraordinary staff and his joy in working with food and people shines at every event.

Whether it's an intimate gathering of 20 or a sit down dinner for 2,000 people, “BASH” catering could be worth looking into for your event!
